Resolved Question: Hello - anyone know of a place to rent a vehicle with a trailer hitch?

I have a vintage airstream trailer. I only use it a few times a year so it doesn't make sense for me to buy a vehicle to tow it with. I'm looking for a company that rents vehicles with a hitch. So far I've found one of the large rental companies (I think u Haul) rents trucks with hitches, but they say it is only to pull their trailers. Anyone know if their hitches are universal, such that I could (on the sly) pull my own trailer using their rental car? Thanks! L  more

Resolved Question: What used appliance do you think best as a housewarming gift?

I'm temporizing now ... just can't decide ... the 1994 Oster blender with 2 good blades still on it, or the 1970 dishwasher - the crumbly parts of the case have been patched with bondo and I got a lovely coat of glossy enamel paint over the whole outside, looks good if you appreciate fuschia .... but my friend's new 1967 Airstream trailer needs almost everything! Resolved Question: How can I collect money owed to me from my step dads brother?

In June my step dad’s brother purchased a 1977 Airstream trailer from us for $8,000 and agreed to pay $4,000 when the trailer was picked up and send the other $4,000 once he had the trailer. He was not able to get someone to pick up the trailer so the agreement changed to: me delivering the trailer at no extra cost and being paid in full upon delivery. Upon delivery and inspection he told me he would need to have a check cut from his business since the purchase was for that use. A week later we went to see him and asked about payment and again he said the check would be cut and sent to us. Now a month later and after many emails requesting payment, we received a check for the $8,000 just to find out that a "stop payment was issued on the check". Now a month later they claim there are problems with the trailer and said they stopped payment of the check they sent and want us to go pick it up on our own dime. We have emails and witnesses on this transaction. What do we do? My proof of the transaction is via email that I can print. I also have the cancled check they sent with the envelope it was sent in to prove the date it was mailed to us (one month later) The check sent is also from his buisness account. (he is the CEO of the buisness)  more

Resolved Question: Does Matthew McConnoughey still live in his Airstream trailer?

---even part-time? & does he still HAVE it? I recall him telling Penelope Cruz (he said in an interview that he told her this), that if she wanted to be with him, she'd have to learn to live in the Airstream. I remember this specifically, because the Airstream he owns (& that they lived in---for awhile)...is exactly like mine. I wonder if he demanded something of her (P.Cruz) that he himself can't still living up to. (that would be TOO ironic). If he does still live in it, how do you know? (like, where do you get your information?)  more

Resolved Question: I have a clogged RV toilet. How do I unclog a Thetford RV Toilet?

This is my first Travel Trailer. It's a 70's airstream. I have it hooked up to a parks sewage. Yesterday the toilet wouldn't flush at all. The hose to the sewage was blocked up a little, I picked the hose up to help it along and cleared that line. I put some of the septic treatment which brakes down the waste in the toilet yesterday; it looked as it had worked pretty well after a number of hours but still no flush. I also tried some roto rooter after that. The contents seem pretty liquified. I should clarify that the toilet did attempt to flush at points, water came in but nothing actually flushed. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to try next, I've tried holding down the foot pedal flush with no water, to my understanding the toilet has a door which opens to flush the toilet, but not much if anything has gone down yet. I don't have any diagrams or knowledge really of how the holding tanks work. Are they full? Do I need to do something to bypass the tanks if connected to sewage?  more

Resolved Question: I need work advice..........thanks for your help.?

I work for a vet clinic that got damaged after Katrina. We are currently working out of an airstream trailer and we have been working out of it for 1yr by now. The doctors are selling their house and it doesn't seem like they are going to rebuild.I'm the only worker they have left and I feel like they are keeping me inthe dark and they might just pack up and leave. I got another job offer way better than this one but I feel bad leaving them when I know they probably just leave me. I want out but I don't know how to tell them specially when everything they are doing they are not telling me.Would it be rude to just give my 2 weeks notice when I am the only person left?should I just wait and see what happens?  more

Resolved Question: I'm trying to make a little sense out of this situation....?

We had an Airstream for sale, in the paper. We sell cars and trailers all the time. Lots of times the people who act interested disappear and never come back. Some people called about it, asked if we'd take less for it. The answer was, if you get here with the money before it is sold, it's yours. On the day they were supposed to come buy it, they were four hours late. There were two other buyers, and one of them offered $500.00 more for it. So we thought we'd be courteous and call the first people, since they live out of town, and tell them that if they really want it, they need to pay the asking price, 'because we have a buyer, but y'all called first, so I wanted to offer it to you'. They said OK, they'll pay what we're asking. They came, paid the money, got the trailer, and we have a signed Bill of Sale. Then the woman came back and said she was suing us. Well, they were INFORMED and they didn't have to buy it, right? So she actually DID sue us and WE LOST! Isn't it your right to sell or not to sell. We could have asked $1,000,000.00 for it because it's ours to sell for whatever we want, right??? They paid first and threatened later! There was no reasoning behind the judge's decision. When my husband started to shake his head in denial of points they lied about, the (female) judge started to scream and threatened him with contempt, and never let him defend himself. I feel that a judge who flies off the handle, is in no mental state to be a mediator of any kind. It was shockingly unprofessional and my husband really did nothing disrespectful. Plus, we had the Bill of Sale. TEXAS justice! I mean...We are so befuddled that this question had to go on HERE! The beyotch judge wouldn't explain it or give us a chance and she ordered trhe Bailiff to escort us out. We never spoke out of turn or were nasty in any way and THEY were. No we aren't planning to appeal it. Lawsuits aren't our bag. It's only about $500.00. It's more the point of the thing, and we'd like to know...OH, and the judge DID say that we should have sold it to the person with the cash, and not called the first people, because that showed that we "felt like we had a contract" enough to call them. And that screwed us right there. I don't believe this. It's Bullsh*t. We thought we were doing the right thing. How would it have been if we HAD just sold it and let them come all that way to find it gone??? They'd have sued us for that!  more

Resolved Question: Vanity licence plates. Which one do you like best?

I am a bit of a retro freak (50's, 60's, 70's) and have a 1969 Silver Streak travel trailer that looks like those silver Airstreams. I have 7 letters or numbers to work with. SSMINOW STREAKN BULLET SBULLET I also have a 1983 Chevy Trans Van. It's like a mini motorhome and kind of looks like a big yaght going down the road! Again 7 spaces: RETROTV (as in trans van) RETROVN (combo retro + roving) RDYAGHT (road yaght) Man, I hope I spelled 'yaght' right! lol Or do you have other ideas?  more

Resolved Question: Doesn't anyone know someone who has a truck that will tow my Airstream trailer down to California in May? PLZZ

Resolved Question: How do I find someone to tow my trailer from Washington to California?

I have a 32 ft. Airstream TRAILER...weighing only about 6,500 lbs. I need someone with a good truck to tow it from Washington State near Everett, to Forestville, California, near Santa Rosa. (I'll drive my car). I need someone who is nice and well-referred. I'll pay for your gas, food and motel (2 nights)--- If you need more $$, please let me know. I prefer going down Interstate 5 to Grants Pass, and then over to 101 South to Sonoma County. I'm not rolling in money, but I want to make it right. If I'm out of line, please let me know nicely. Thank you. I realize whatever I need to pay for, it will be over & above the cost of gas/diesel .. right? So, $1.00 a mile, you meant the gas would have been extra right?  more
