The model is a BC60XLT-1, and I have some CHP frequencies around my area programmed into it. It has been scanning for a while now, and nothing has been picked up yet. The weather channels work, and I know I have done it right and put all the real frequencies in. Can I have some help. Does it usually take this long. I live in Elk Grove, and I am trying to scan South Sacramento CHP Dispatch and Car Radios. more

I purchased a used uniden bearcat scanner 245XL for my dad for Christmas. He's retired and lives in a small town so I thought he might enjoy listening to the local police. Unfortunately I know nothing about scanners. I thought you just turned them on and they picked up local police/fire etc..I didn't realize you had to program them...(Duh) Is anyone aware of anyone in the Dallas area (I live in Rowlett) that I could pay to program this stupid scanner...I have tried to figure it out but truthfully I've lost patience. I know it works because I did hear the weather. I did contact Texas Towers out of Plano and the person I spoke to said "were not set up for that"...whatever that means. I'm getting desperate Christmas is coming up and my dad certainly isn't going to know how to program it.... I have looked up the frequencies for his town and I pulled up the manual on the internet but still can't seem to get it right... I want to PAY someone to do it for me because my dad is over an hour away and I want to make sure its done right. more

Resolved Question: If you own a radio scanner with trunking capabilities, can still pick up non-trunking frequencies?

I've been looking for a radio scanner for Christmas, and I read that my county, Montgomery County, MD, is on a trunking broadcast system. But there are a few other frequencies in my area that are broadcasting on regular, 800Mhz frequencies. If I were to buy a radio scanner that had the capability of picking up trunking broadcasts, would I still be able to pick up non-trunking 800MHz frequencies? On Monday the 28th of July 2008 a rather large package was shipped from America to the UK (Its a Bearcat BCT996T police scanner) the tracking number just says my item left the us on Monday the 28th? i am interested in purchasing a scanner to listen to the driver/crew chief/.spotter communication during the races i go to each year. i have two questions:1) i would like to hear my driver but would also like to hear full race commentary (playby play). do i need a radio to tune into local radio station or can i get that on the scanner too? also 2) i am interested in the UNIDEN BEARCAT BC92XLT. anyone have any info on it? i usually go to dover/ pocono and a couple other. thanks more

I currently own a Uniden Bearcat 800XLT police scanner. It worked well for many years but it is finally diening out. I have heard some people saying that with the new scanners, you cant here everything that is really going on with the police. Is this true? Will I still be able to hear the same things that I used to hear with my 800XLT? Or will the new scanner be blocked? I need answers so that I can buy a new one that is effective. Otherwise I might just buy another 800XLT on ebay. ok, my scanner will only take in 5 digit numbers its a bearcat 560XLT and I did a web search and found this... (460.28750 KSQ701 RM KSP08-6A West Liberty-Morgan County Transmitter P25 Law Talk) so and it will only take it 460.287, and I live in a small town so I dont think they have switched to satelite so any information on how to listen in will be appreciated and when you find the frequency will you know or is it every know any then they talk? more

i bought this 5hing at a garage sale for a buck it turns on i can change channels ets display screen works antenna is in excellent cond. as well as the overall condition it is in great shape. only one prob how u use this darn thing. never had the manual wit it so i figured no biggie i'll just google for a manual online only to my avaiol every site wants money to even download a manual. anyone able to give me a step by step to get this thiong fully operational or show me a link where to find a manual or programming instructions etc etc... but for free? i aint payin 20 dollars to learn how to operate somethin i paid only a buck for lol. if thats the case i'm a use mny river golf clubs on the thing get my bucks worth out it that way then lol more

I have a bearcat electra 3 police scanner, how do I program the codes back in it? I know these scanners are old but I can't afford to buy a new one. Anyone know where I can get codes for west virginia? I have been searching and all I can find are codes that have the decimal between numbers. This scanner has no decimal anywhere on it for me push. So that is useless. Has no 0 has no . so codes with 0, 9, or the . will not work. The scanner has digits 1-8 only. more
